Monthly subscriptions for the upcoming title will start at £7.69, while preordering the title guarantees early access and in-game items. Some of these items include a Cait Sith, most recognisable from Final Fantasy VII, which joins your party as a non-combat pet, and a Moogle-themed hat for your character.
A Collector’s Edition has also been announced, which contains an 80-page “Art of Eorzea” hardcover art book and ships in a box designed by Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano.
The original game was plagued with frequent bugs, lag and numerous other issues following its launch. Despite Square Enix releasing multiple patches to fix the issue, users remained unhappy with the game claiming it “had hurt the brand”.
The company subsequently decided to release the 2.0 update for the game to overhaul its graphics, servers and various other aspects. They are also currently taking beta applications ahead of the game’s third phase of closed testing in June.
